Ellen Smith (184) was born on 7th July, 1876 in Good Easter, near Chelmsford, Essex.



She spent her early years at Wares Farm, Good Easter but by 1891, at age 18, she was employed as a domestic servant and governess at Aldwick Private House, High Road, Pagham, Sussex.


Ellen married Captain Percy Hildebrand Collingwood (225) RAMC on 25th May, 1904 at St MildredŐs Church, Lewisham, London.

Percy was born into an Army family Deesa, India in 1871 during the days of the Raj.

He had a sister born in Calcutta on 26th May 1877.

In 1881 he was boarding in Tonbridge, Kent

Ellen survived her husband by many years. She died on 22nd October, 1964 in St MargaretŐs Nursing Home, Sutton, Surrey.
