Eva Smith (164) was born at High / White Roothing on 11th August, 1873.



In the 1881 census she is living at Margaret Roothing. At age 17 she is a dressmaker living at Rydal Lodge, Victoria Road, Great Clacton, Essex.


She was married on 25th June, 1896 in Leaden Roding Essex to James Stock (176).



James was born 31st July, 1863 in Little Easton, Essex.


James was the son of John James Stock, born in Broxted, Essex in 1829 and widowed by 1881.



He was farming Grange Farm, Tilty in 1881 which 317 acres and required 18 men and 3 boys. JamesŐ siblings were: Elizabeth born in Little Easton in 1862 and George born in Little Easton in 1866.


At age 7 James was a schoolboy at a private Classical and Commercial Boarding School at Great Dunmow, Essex.


By 17 he is at Grange Farm, Tilty, then becomes Farm Bailiff at Leaden Hall, Leaden Roding returning to take over the Grange Farm at Tilty before 1911.


James Stock died 12th November 1948.

Eva died on 23rd June, 1950 when her address was noted as Clifton House, 10 Queens Road, Chelmsford, Essex.
