Kathleen Maria Smith (9) “Born in the USA” could have been this lady’s theme song.

Her father died from typhoid whilst her mother was carrying her. The widow stayed in the USA until after the birth and then brought her home to the UK.

She was born in 1868.

Kathleen appears to have stayed with her mother until her death in 1904. She never married. Living first at Champions Farm, Woodham Ferrers she was staying at 79 Writtle Green, Writtle, Essex in 1881. At age 23 she was living at Parkers, Takeley and the joined up with her sister – see above at 61

Lausanne Road, Hornsey St Peter and then at 15 Powderham Terrace, Teignmouth, Devon where she was “an assistant in business.”

I believe that she died on 14th January, 1949 whilst living at 5 Douglas Close, Worthing, Sussex.
