Laura Annie Smith (163)  was also born in High Roothing in 1871

 

 

She was still there in 1881 but was visiting a friend at 107 High Street, Great Dunmow, Essex at the time of the 1891 census.

 

 

 

She was employed as a domestic housekeeper at Little Canfield Hall in 1901 and was married the following year at All Saints Church, Little Totham, near Maldon on 9th April, 1902.

Her husband was George Smith (171) who was born on 4th June, 1867 in Great Canfield, Essex.

 

He does not seem to have been a relation – but there are a lot of Smiths!

 

His father was also George, born in Barnston, near Dunmow, Essex and he married Emma born 1842 in Good Easter.

 

George Snr  died on 25th March, 1920.

George had three siblings – Emma born 1871 in Great Canfield; Minnie born 1875 in Great Canfield and Sydney born 1881 in High Easter.

 

In 1901 he was a farmerŐs son at Newlands, Little Canfield and by 1939 he was farming on his own account at Hobbs Farm, Great Canfield.

Laura Annie died on 13th September, 1949. Her address at that time was 67 Walton Road, Clacton on Sea.
